Hello beautiful people!
Have you ever had that moment where you felt like the light bulb came on? It was like you were walking in the dark and then all of a sudden - ta da! - a thought hit you, someone said something or you read something that made you think more clearly than you had ever thought before. That's what I hope I can do for you. I just want to help you turn the light on about Wealth God's Way.
Now if you don't believe in accumulating wealth, that's ok.
Stop reading. This blog is not for you.
But if you are one of the ones who know that God has more for you than where you are right now, continue on, pull out your sunglasses and keep reading. You're about to see the light.
I'm going to give you a couple of Scriptures that I want you to ponder on for a while. Might as well jump right in with this one since every body quotes it.
Luke 18:18-23 18 Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
19 So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. 20 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’ ”
21 And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.”
22 So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
23 But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.
In this passage the rich young ruler was asking about eternal life. I tend to think that Jesus knew that the ruler had a love of money (which is the root of all evil). Rest assured, beautiful people, that's not you. Being rich meant more to him than his eternal salvation.
Read verse 22 again. Did you read that correctly? Why did Jesus want the rich young ruler to give all he had to the poor? Because...? Let me answer that for you, Jesus never said that. What??? you mean Jesus didn't say that?" Nope. No where in that scripture did Jesus tell him to give it all to the poor. He said to give to the poor. He never says sell it all and give it all unto the poor. Jesus told him to give to the poor but He didn't say he had to give it all. Why? Because the rich young ruler lacked only one thing. He lacked trust in Christ. His trust and love was only in his riches.
Semantics you say?
Think about it this way, to follow Christ you have to think in terms of God's Kingdom. God's Kingdom operates differently than we think or have been taught. God's Kingdom works like this: give and it will be given back to you. (Luke 6:38). Notice that even here He doesn't say to give it all.
Jesus was trying to get the rich young ruler out of this world's system and into God's Kingdom. The rich young ruler was not a giver, it's obvious because he loved his riches more than he loved Christ.
To follow Christ you must be a giver. You also have to love God more than you love money. Money is a tool to be used to advance the Kingdom of God. We get into trouble, like the rich young ruler, when we would rather pack our money into the bank then to advance God's Kingdom.
However, if you are reading this blog right now then we both know this isn't you at all. You are different. You are all about advancing the Kingdom of God. You give tithes, offerings, time, heck you would even give the shirt off your back (I have literally done that) but you have not come close to receiving back anything equal to what you have given out.
Guess what? You are in a great place.
Like they say, let's shed some light on it.
2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich.
Can you believe that Jesus became poor? If He who knew no sin was rich, then where did the riches come from? God.
I don't know about you but the devil has been stealing my money long enough. He needs to give it up. Jesus took poverty on the cross so I could have the power to create wealth. Let me say it in southern for you. Honey you ain't got to be poor no more.
I'm going to leave you with this last thought.
Deuteronomy 8:18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God; for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
If God says He gives you power to get wealth and He wanted you to have it so much that He swore a covenant (promise) to your forefathers, because He wanted to establish that covenant (promise), then why are you lacking anything?
Glad you asked. Consider this: maybe, just maybe, the problem isn't that God wants us poor. Maybe the truth lies in the fact that we don't know how to operate in God's Kingdom.
Stick with me, beautiful people. We are going to fix that.
