Don't Look Back

I woke up early this morning and came across a song while doing some “research” (actually scrolling on social media) I came across a song from a band I loved as a teenager. The song title really stuck with me. I couldn’t get it out of my mind so I knew God was trying to tell me something.

Before I tell you the name of the song I want to tell you about my brother in law Roger. He is a crane operator and builds bridges for our beautiful state North Carolina.

The most danger he is in during the day is when all lanes on the highway are open. The reason is this, drivers are naturally curious of what is happening when they see a road crew working. The danger lies in the fact that drivers tend to go where they look…see where I am going here?

The driver gets distracted, heads toward the road crew and they will run right into the work area. That’s why they have cement barriers surrounding the construction zone.

So now on to the song. The song titled “Don’t look Back” by Boston is a song that I listened to as a teenager but I never really paid attention to the lyrics. I took the time to look them up today and see what God was trying to tell me.

What I have come to know through the years is that God will talk to you in your language.

The revelation I felt God was saying to me is to look forward at the new horizon. I have finally come to a place in my life that I see life in a brand new way.

       The sun is shinin'

The clouds are breakin'

 The sun is shining and the clouds are breaking means that the Lord is opening the windows of heaven as promised in Malachi.

 Malachi 3:10………I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

      'Cause I can't lose now, there's no game to play”

 I know that I can’t lose with God by my side. Finally, I say all the time I have no room in my life for drama because I stopped playing games.

 The jest of the message today is this. We have to leave the past behind, look toward the future ahead, while making the most of the present.

 We can’t change the past. We can only change our future. The children of Israel missed their promised land because they were so consumed with who they were in the past that they were not willing to cross over Jordan river to live in their promised future.

 Today, don’t look back (remember Lots wife?).

The reason your car has a big windshield and a small rearview mirror is because you tend to go toward the bigger picture.

 Don’t let past failures, memories or successes hold you hostage.

Don't look back. Move toward the future.

Because the future, my beautiful people, is where your promised land is located.
