Man In The Mirror, Give Me Back My Money

faith and finance Jun 03, 2022

Hello, beautiful people!

I've got a question for you.

 Psalm 37: 21 The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously;

Which one are you? Answer honestly.

The best way to introduce you to the man in the mirror (you know, the one that has all your money) is by judging your life through God's word. It's the only thing that reveals who we truly are.

Generous giving? Now that's a thought. Most people have been so manipulated about giving that they are simply burned out.

With all the "Give ME your $33.33 and you will be rolling in the dough" that's spewed out it's a wonder people give at all. This kind of giving may get you free pizza (see what I did there? pizza - rolling in the dough? Whatever, I'm hilarious.) but it will not get you a real harvest.

Generous giving is a concept that has been studied very little but has been exploited to no end. So let's research it for just a bit.

Generous - showing a readiness to give more of something, as money or time, than is strictly necessary or expected.

As a Christian being generous is not what we do it is who we are.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Here we see that giving is a heart issue. It's not about what someone else tells you to give, it's about being in a relationship with God the Father and giving what He has purposed in your heart to give. Jesus did nothing that He didn't hear THE FATHER say do.

Look at how Jesus put it:

John 8:28 I do nothing on My own initiative…
John 5:19  I only do what I see My Father do and speak what I hear My Father saying.

Our giving becomes who we are as a believer in Christ. It is to be used to share the love of Jesus and help others see that we serve a generous God and He knows how to give good gifts. If our heart is stingy and greedy then people will see God that way. But if we are cheerful and generous then it's a testament to Christ and what He has done in our lives.

What is the good news to the poor? In the words of Gary Keesee "You don't have to be poor no more." Now that, my beautiful people, is some good news if I have ever heard it.

Today I want you to take a look at that stingy thing in the mirror and let them know that they have ruled long enough. Tell them out loud that as of TODAY you are taking back control of your money. Let them know that you ain't going to be poor no more.

Today begin your new found freedom by asking God where to give, when to give and how much to give.

The next time you see that beautiful person in the mirror you are going to be surprised by his new found freedom. You'll never have to tell him again to give you back your money. You will know that he only gives when the Father tells him to.
